CHARM CITY, Central – An urban city church found itself coming to a stand still when the Sunday Bible reader and announcer began the service by reading a portion of scripture that startled the congregation.

Commenting on the situation, the senior pastor explained:
“Yeah, we just had to let go of one of our oldest church members when he got the reading for the day wrong and upset a couple of potential new church members. You see, umm…we are a very sensitive popular church and don’t want to be seen as being offensive or intolerant to anything.”

The pastor explained that after the service many visitors expressed how intolerant the Bible reader of the day was. Others called him a bigot, a hater and outdated.

The church usually began it’s services by taking a reading from a portion of the Bible but has now switched to reading quotes from famous celebrities and motivational speakers.

When asked which verse caused such a stir it was revealed that the offensive verse is found in the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians -1 Cor 6:9-10.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
